Woodcuts Wilhelm Webels carved  a total of 14  wood blocks (matrices) in order to produce prints. These  woodcut prints are limited in number and each one was signed personally by the artist. The last woodcut print he made: “Children with kite ” has been printed  in 4 colours, rather a rarity in the art world.

Woodcut is a relief printing technique in printmaking. An artist carves an image into the surface of a block of wood, typically with gourges , leaving the printing parts level with the surface while removing  the non-printing parts . Areas that the artist cuts away carry no ink, while characters or images at surface level carry the ink to produce the print.  Woodcut prints are produced by pressing the selected medium (usually paper) onto the inked image.
